Youth Development Programme for under 19 Football
An investment in your clubs future.
27th April 2009
Dear Club Honorary Secretary,
I’m sure at this time of the year you are conducting a review of the structure of your club and planning to ensure your club strives to provide a stream of players from Schoolboy to Junior Football and to the next grade of football.
Under 19 football provides young players with the opportunity to bridge the gap between the skilful world of schoolboy football and the sometimes more robust junior football.
Clubs can groom their most promising players of to-morrow in the competitive, yet controlled atmosphere of the joint Amateur Football League/North Dublin Schoolboy/girls League under 19 Division played on Sunday afternoons.
The home and away league competition is complimented by a knock-out Cup Competition. Teams, if they so wish may enter Cup competitions open to all 3rd division teams within the League and the Leinster Football Association Shield Competitions.
Competing in this grade of football is less expensive as league fees are waived. Players eligible to play in this Division, if they are members of Clubs affiliated to either League only pay one registration fee; however, to play in both Leagues they must sign a registration form for each League. A player must be born in 1990 or later.
Under 19 teams are guaranteed the top referees and attention. Both our Leagues take great interest in the progress of this division and regularly monitor standards of play, behaviour and facilities.
The NDSL Academy is the Youth Development Section of Sporting Fingal and as such gives a pathway for players into the Eircom League. An Under 19 League could be used as a stepping stone for the Under 20 Eircom Sporting Fingal team. Coaching of young players is always encouraged and the Oscar Traynor Centre facilities include a floodlit all weather pitch with excellent dressing rooms.
We would be pleased to expand on the above should you consider the opportunity to take part in the season beginning the end of August 2009
Thanking you in anticipation of you expressing an interest in taking part.
Our Under 19 Development Officer is Mr. Bob Donnelly, Home Phone No. 01-8420674 and his email address is Bob Donnelly (bobdonely@eircom.net).
