Shared Access Scheme

Posted: Sunday, July 18, 2010

I am writing to you on behalf of the Football Association of Ireland in order to bring to your attention a significant commercial opportunity with a blue chip company that we feel may be of interest to your league and your member clubs. The company approached the FAI because they feel that mutually beneficial agreements can be reached that would assist clubs in the development of their infrastructure. The company is called Shared Access and is a private, well capitalised Irish company which manages communications infrastructure for wireless operators at major Irish developments such as Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin Port Tunnel and sports stadia such as Thomond Park, Musgrave Park amongst others. The Shared Access proposal to you: Shared Access will deliver a turnkey floodlighting solution at club / league grounds which meets and in some cases exceeds relevant regional and grassroots competition standards, should the location prove suitable and agreement can be reached to host their infrastructure. As well as creating a valuable improvement for football facilities, the development will also provide an annual income with a significant share of the rental revenue given directly to the operator of the ground by Shared Access. If a facility already has floodlights, Shared Access would still like the opportunity to discuss development options, which could include a significant, upfront capital contribution to the facility, and also a share in the annual rental revenues accrued by Shared Access. Clubs and Leagues are asked to visit www.fai.ie/sharedaccess which will provide further information about the programme and provide an opportunity for the completion of the online enquiry form, which will only take a few minutes. Yours sincerely Richard Fahey Director of Club Licensing and Facility Development The Football Association of Ireland
