Rules for SmartPly Amateur Football League Seniors over 35’s divisions 2009-10

1. Seniors Divisions will consist of teams with players who are over 35 years of age on the 1st January in the year in which the season commences i.e. (Season 2009-10 over 35 on 1st January 2009).

2. All players must be registered on League Forms and indicate the team for which they last played. Where a club have a team playing in another League, their players need to be dual registered.

3. Kick off times for Sunday teams is am. Saturday teams must nominate their kick-off time before the season commences.

4. Teams will be 11 a-side, with 5 nominated substitutes (who must be named on the card before the game) allowed on a roll-on-roll off basis. Players substituted may re-enter the game at a later stage.

5. The referee must be informed and permission given before substitutions takes place.

6. Teams found to be guilty of knowingly playing ineligible players may be removed from the League or points deducted from League fixtures or removed from Cup Competitions as the Executive Committee deem fit.

7. There will be a system of promotion and relegation, where viable.

8 Once fixtures are published a confirmation process must start between each club by contacting each other and the referee as early as possible to allow for last minute changes. Ensure there are no clashes with teams sharing.

9. Clubs do not have the option to call off fixtures. If this is considered necessary, the Divisional Managers (Paul Lenehan for Saturday and Dermot Murphy for Sunday) must be contacted in the first instance for permission and if given, the responsibility rests with the applicant to contact the other team and the referee. Otherwise the match will be forfeited and awarded to the disappointed team.

10. Clubs requesting a free weekend must get permission from the Divisional managers at least 14 days or earlier, if planning to be away before the date on which you wish to be free.

11. Teams failing to turn up for a fixture, without sufficient justification, will incur an automatic fine of €75 and lose points or cup match.

12. The Dan Grimes Cup is for Seniors Sunday over 35’s teams

13. The Jim Byrne Cup is for Senior Saturday over 35’s teams

14. The Peter Clifford Cup is for all Over 35 Clubs and for 1 team per club. The home team has choice of day and time of kick-off.

15 Should clubs have 2 teams in either the Jim Byrne or Grimes Cup players can only play for one team.

16. In all Cup matches, if it is a draw after 90 minutes no extra time will be played. Match decided by kicks from the penalty mark. Only players who were on the pitch at full time are eligible to take penalty kicks. (Should the goalkeeper be genuinely injured he can be replaced from the nominated substitutes). At the start of Penalty Kicks teams must have even numbers. For example at the end of the game (90 minutes) if one team has 11 players and the other team has 10, then the team with the 11 players must remove one player to even the numbers. Only the players left on the field of play are then eligible to take a penalty kick.

17 Players sent off in a fixture incur an automatic minimum one match suspension which is not negotiable. The Player and his club representative must appear before the Executive in the Oscar Traynor Centre, Dublin 17 on Thursday of the following week. Should it be a midweek game, the player appears on the following Thursday. Fines to be paid in full on the night imposed.

18 Should the home venue be unavailable for whatever reason, the game automatically switches to the opponents ground. This becomes their home fixture. Should this occur a second time, it will be played as an away fixture.

19. The above rules are to be read in addition to the general rules of the SmartPly Amateur Football League.

For and on behalf of the Hon. Officers and Executive Committee, Noel Kennelly, Honorary Secretary 26th May 2009
